Exploring a New Field in Biotechnology with Chemistry

The Department of Biomolecular Functional Engineering seeks to nurture researchers and engineers who can explore the complex functions of living organisms at the molecular level and apply their expertise to diverse industrial fields. The department offers basic education, such as chemistry, physics, and biology in the 1st and 2nd years. From the 3rd year, students are divided into the applied functional chemistry course and the bioelectronic information course, and provided with education programs based on curricula that allow them to acquire more specialized knowledge and expertise about technology. The department is looking for students having a strong will to learn about the various functions of biomolecules and apply them to engineering.

Admission policy

  • Who understands the various functions of  biomolecules, has an eagerness to apply them to engineering, and has a broad knowledge of mathematics and science with the ability to communicate clearly.
  • Who aims at acquiring greater knowledge and to cultivating the ability to think logically about biomolecular functional engineering, and who is willing to be an active researcher and engineer inside and outside Japan.
  • Who is strongly motivated to contribute to the sustainable development of society as a researcher and engineer knowledgeable in biomolecular functional engineering.

Diploma policy (Policy of conferment of a degree)

In the Department of Biomolecular Functional Engineering, we produce excellent engineers through the studies of basic and specialized liberal education, applied chemistry, chemical engineering, life science, and electronic intelligence, and who have acquired the following abilities:

  1.   1. Has a broad versatile field of vision, good humanity, good social skills, and strong ethics.
  2.   2. Has the basic knowledge of natural sciences, mathematics, and information science that are the basis of biomolecular engineering.
  3.   3. Has the knowledge, skills, and applied ability in a specialized field.
  4.   4. Has obtained knowledge based on the needs of society, the ability to solve problems, and the ability to communicate ideas logically.

Through painstaking guidance throughout the graduation study, the above practical abilities are attained. We grant a degree after a successful oral presentation of the graduation thesis, and its submission.
